New Golfsmith Pro Forged irons combine the classic profile and size of its predecessor with some modern improvements: a new precision forged process and CNC-Machined Scorelines.
- Golfsmith has added a third step to the traditional "double-forged" process more commonly used for forged irons. The extra step includes a second heat treatment in the forming process and a third hammering in the forging die. The result is improved feel and performance.
- The Precision Forging increases the density of the carbon steel and eliminates the small voids left inside the head from the customary two-step forging process.
- Precision Forging also allows for more accurate polishing because it thins the excess flash from the edges that is squeezed out of the forging die.
